Abstract
Tourism is a global industry known for its rapid expansion and significant economic contributions, serving as a mechanism for job creation, income generation, and infrastructure development. Nigeria, with its diverse cultural and geographical attractions, holds immense tourism potential. However, the decline in tourist visits, particularly to destinations like Ikogosi
Warm Spring, underscores underlying issues affecting the sector. This study aims to analyze the
factors contributing to this decline, focusing on the Ikogosi warm spring as a case study. It
identifies several factors, such as security concerns, economic challenges, and inadequate
amenities, lack of maintenance, and accessibility issues, that deter tourists. Potential solutions
include enhancing security measures, implementing effective marketing strategies, fostering
partnerships, organizing engaging activities, and promoting a culture of maintenance. By
addressing these challenges and implementing the proposed solutions, Nigeria can harness its
tourism potential to boost economic growth and development.
